How to learn one of the most beautiful Crimean mountains in Bakhchisarai area– “mountain-fortress” Tepe –Kermen Part I
At first I would like to tell, why we’ve decided to go to one of the most mysterious cave towns of Crimea – Tepe-Kermen, “ mountain – fortress” is a translation from Turks. This Crimean mountain raises on 540 m above the sea level. Usually the tourists who come to Bakhchisarai, first visit Khan’s Palace, learn Orthodox Assumption Monastery, and then gradually enter cave town Chufut-Kale or “Jewish fortress”, whish is considered to be the most convenient for visit. But our tour was aimed to conquer the top of Tepe-Kermen.
It seem to be very unassailable fortress, which in fact belongs to Guinness Book for the unusual form of the mount. The second reason was, that this mountain in Crimea has the largest number of man-made caves, more than 250 caves! The caves are situated in the 3 stores and baptistery, with well preserved altar and itself baptistery, several roods on the walls.
Form the very beginning we arrived to Bakhchisarai, where we started our trekking tour. We left our at the Palace, walked a bit inside, made several pictures of Kans palace and tourists trying on Tatar national clothing and went on towards Orthodox Assumption Monastery.
So there is the only road from Palace that leads you to Monastery (just turn right from palace), we walked slowly around 30 minutes, taking pictures of surroundings, even there were so much picturesque: winding street, pendent cliffs (all of them have very round form:), ancient houses.
